WITH four maximum British Rally Championship points already, Carnforth's Steve Head and Penrith's Andrew Dugdale are almost certain to take championship victory for production cars up to 1600cc at the Grantham based MSA rally this weekend.

The pair have dominated the class in their Proton Satria, demoralising the opposition on the Scottish Rally.

Their recent victory in the Jim Clark Memorial Rally saw the demise of their closest rival and team-mate in an identical car, leaving them poised for victory.

Head was quick to recover from the demands of driving through the night on the recent Jim Clark Rally and focused on the forthcoming event.

"I was really pleased to win on the Jim Clark. That was the tenth successive victory for the car on the BRC and the team from Bridge Motorsport who prepare the car. Now we need to concentrate on retaining the title for Proton," explained Head.

"The stages will be very different to all the other rallies in the championship. With a mix of Tarmac and gravel, tyre choice will be very difficult.

"The short stages will mean it will be a very fast sprint with a missed gear change or single spin probably deciding the winner."
