SIMON Baldwin must sweat it out until next Tuesday before he finds out if his dismissal at Dewsbury will cost him a place in the Centurions' play-off semi-final.

Sent off inside two minutes for 'a high, late challenge' on Rams' scrum-half Barry Eaton, the Leigh second rower's fate will only be decided by the RL Disciplinary Panel in Leeds after the weekend.

A one match suspension would keep him out of the Major Semi-Final against either Doncaster or Oldham while a longer ban will also sideline him for the Grand Final on July 29.

Baldwin will make a personal appearance before the judiciary and will have coach Paul Terzis alongside him for support.

Terzis had tried to get the hearing fixed for this week, but his request was turned down.

"We wanted to get it over and done with as quickly as possible," says the Leigh coach. "Simon didn't want it hanging over him for more than a week and I wanted a decision as early as possible so I could start the semi-final preparations with the knowledge that he was either in the side or out."

Terzis accepts that the video evidence does show that Baldwin caught Eaton late after he'd put in a downfield kick. But adds: "To my mind it's not conclusive where the impact occured or with what."

"The central points or our case will be that there was no malice intended, we want Simon's previous good record taken into account and the fact that by being sent off so early means he's virtually already served a one-match ban. Those are the factors in our favour."

The good news for Terzis is that Heath Cruckshank should have fully recovered from ankle trouble by next weekend to take Baldwin's place in the pack if needed.

Cruckshank isn't too far away from full fitness and another week of treatment should do the trick.

He's been joined in the treatment room by Stuart Donlan (ankle), Kieron Purtill and Adam Bristow (both shoulder). None of the injuries are causing Leigh any concern at this stage. "There's no dramas on that score," reports Terzis.

The Leigh boss has eased back on training this week, before the programme is stepped up again after the weekend.

"We've had three hard games in a row and the lads are feeling the pinch. On Saturday we're going paint-balling just as a bit of fun and than the real preparation starts on Monday.

Four players have been nominated for the NFP All Stars team that's selected at the end of each season. The quartet are: Stuart Donlan, Paul Anderson, Mick Higham and Simon Baldwin.

The NFP All Star Xlll will be announced at a celebration dinner at Elland Road on July 25.
