By Lesley Richards A GOLBORNE horse has become a film star - at the age of 24.

Silver Million, owner by Sue Denney, has a part in the film comedy Relative Values starring Julie Andrews and Stephen Fry.

And its all because the semi-retired Irish draught cross thoroughbred crossed the Irish Sea to a new home in the Isle of Man.

Sue, formerly of Town Farm, Golborne, moved to join her parents in Ramsey 15 months ago, taking her 10 horses with her.

While riding her old grey mare she was spotted by the film's director and invited to have a role crossing a court yard.

Sue said: "It's her first claim to film fame. We competed a lot over the years in showjumping, working hunter, cross country, hunter trials, and drag hunting with the North East Cheshire and Manx Drag Hunt.

"The horse was really well known in Lowton and when I'm over here, now competing in carriage driving, everyone asks about her.

"She is a good age for a horse and has bred three foals. Her youngest is five and is taking her place in competition."

Sue, who started riding in Leigh at the age of five, is now finding success in carriage driving with her boyfriend, Cpl Simon Willis, of the Royal Marines, as her groom.

She said: "The filming was great. I met the stars who included Jeanne Tripplehorn, William Baldwin and Colin Firth and they let me watch them working. Stephen Fry is lovely.

"Now I have got my foot in the door I am hoping to be able to do some more. It's great to see our names on the credits."
