THERE are suggestions that the entire FY postal area -- from FY1 to FY8 -- should be part of one administrative and environmental conurbation by 2010.
There would be one unitary authority extending from Fleetwood in the north to Kirkham and Wesham in the south.
"Green" areas should be left much the same as they are now, and a light, rapid transit system such as "supertram" complementing existing bus routes and connecting the various urban areas directly.
There would be more incentives to leave the car at home, with more park-and-ride schemes. Other features of the newly-formed conurbation would include: more green areas and less fast-food outlets and so less litter in the streets, borrowing/reserving inter-library facilities. I would be interested to read other people's views on this idea.
