I WRITE in response to the scurrilous and cowardly attacks made upon Councillor Ivan Taylor in your letters page on 29/06/00.
Ivan Taylor has spent over 30 years giving true and honourable service to the people of Blackpool both as a ward councillor in Claremont and subsequently as leader of Blackpool Borough Council.
I am sure that Coun Ivan Taylor is not looking for sympathy from anyone, and to suggest that his resigning as Council Leader was anything less than honourable is quite disgraceful. It is not men like Ivan Taylor who lack integrity or drag good names into the gutter as your anonymous correspondent implies, but people like him /her, who choose to hide behind a newspaper to say what they dare not say elsewhere.
If there are any "sinister motives" they belong to the writer of the aforementioned letter. I know that there are many people like me who wish Coun Ivan Taylor and his family well for the future, and thank him for his dedication to the betterment of Blackpool and its people.
Barbara Wright,
Inver Road,
Bispham.
