PEOPLE with learning disabilities are taking part in an exchange visit which will see them visit Ireland next year.

Users of the Enfield Centre in Accrington are involved in the exchange with those from the Lavanagh Centre in Ballintemple, Cork.

Both groups have visited Blackpool and the Trafford Centre and the Enfield group will enjoy a similar visit to Cork in May next year.

Lancashire County Councillor Doreen Pollitt, chairman of Lancashire's social services committee, which runs the Enfield Centre, said: "This is a very exciting exchange programme which will give people with learning disabilities the opportunity to have a variety of experiences and meet people from different communities.

"They will be going to Sea World, enjoying activities such as a barbecue and cycling as well as seeing Blackpool illuminations.

"I hope both groups have a wonderful time. I know people from the Enfield Centre are looking forward to the exchange visit to Ireland next year."
