The Bury pugilist, who controversially lost his belts on a cut against Northern Ireland's Tommy Waite last month, looks like being lined up for another shot at the titles at Aston Villa Leisure Centre, Birmingham late next month.

Waite sensationally lost his ill-gotten gains in his first defence against Nottingham youngster Nicky Booth in Liverpool on Monday evening.

Booth, brother of British & Commonwealth Flyweight champion Jason, only filled in at three days notice but took his chance with both hands winning a hard-fought points verdict over the Belfast greengrocer.

It was the first time that "One Smooth" - as he is known - had gone over eight rounds and Lewis's manager and trainer Jack Doughty knows that he'll be a tough nut to crack should they get it together on November 277.

"It won't be an easy job for Ady," he told the Bury Times yesterday. "He's a tricky opponent, a cocky, clever young fighter.

"He doesn't have a big punch and Ady will be stronger but his combinations are effective and we'll have to devise a plan.

"We're desperate to get those titles back," he added.

The cut that Lewis picked up in the Waite fight is still mending but Doughty reports that his man has been putting in his usual hard work on the Saddleworth hills.

He will refrain from sparring until the wound heals fully but should be okay to step up his training in two or three weeks.

Double British boxing champion Lewis is on the lookout for a new car sponsor.

The Mighty Atom originally had his wheels sponsored by the Oldham-based Ellen Group but the accident assistance outfit have pulled out of all their sporting connections.

Anyone interested in sponsoring Ady should contact Jack Doughty on 01706 845753 or Ady himself on 0161-797 3954.
