A PROJECT to develop part of a school's grounds into a wildlife-friendly garden has been helping the pupils to learn about taking care of the environment.

The St Mary's CE Primary School youngsters in Newchurch-in-Pendle have used a selection of plants designed to attract a range of insects and animals in their "outdoor classroom".

The school designated an area of grassland below the school yard and recruited teams of parents for digging and planting projects and also to site bat and bird boxes.

There is also an area suitable for studying and observing the visiting wildlife.

If you have a project that you think is worth celebrating then we want to hear about it. Or if you know someone who is doing good work for the environment and would like to nominate them for Grimebuster or Junior Grimebuster of the Year then let us know.
