Morecambe 3 Kingstonians 2

JET-set Morecambe boss Jim Harvey saw his side end their recent run of poor form with a hard earned three points against Kingstonians.

A second goal in as many games for midfield dynamo Stewart Drummond sealed all three points in the dying minutes, giving Jim Harvey's side some breathing space above the conference relegation zone.

Experienced winger Andy Lyons gave Morecambe the advantage with a stunning strike to cap of 40 minutes of intense pressure.

The former Wigan Athletic star fired a 30 yard shot past big Kingstonian keeper Steve Farelly, showing the kind of quality which made him such a favourite during his spells in the football league and in Sotland.

Recent signing Julian Dowe was a constant thorn in Kingstonian's side and it was he who earned the second half penalty which looked like giving Morecambe all three points. He was dragged down by David Bass after bursting menacingly into the box. Striking partner Phil Eastwood had no problem in despatching the spot kick.

It took just six minutes for Kingstonian to hit back, however, with Junior Kadi firing past Mark Smith.

Morecambe had chances to secure a third, but it was Kingstonian's Eddie Akumoah who score the next when he latched onto a poor punch from Mark Smith.

However, with three minutes left on the clock, Drummond scored to send Harvey back to his duties as Northern Ireland's assistant manager with a smile on his face and three points in the bag.

Harvey's travels continue next week when the Shrimps make one of the longest away trips of the season to Dover Athletic.

Winger Colin Hunter, 21, made his Shrimps debut in Sunday's game. The former Hednesford and Gainsborough star came off the bench against Kingstonians.
