Chester 1st XI 6 Lytham 1st XI 0.

LYTHAM were on the back foot from the very start after a very strong Chester hockey side gained early advantage through a well worked short corner.

Unfortunately for Lytham, this was the start of more to come from a well disciplined Chester side.

The price of the game was extremely fast from start to end and Chester's fitness shined through when they exploited a battling Lytham side who eventually gave way to the continuous pressure from Chester.

With Lytham 3-0 down at half-time, an early goal would be decisive in crushing Lytham's hopes of pulling the game back. Unfortunately the decisive goal was conceded within seconds of the second half, from a short corner, that Lytham felt was harshly given.

Although 4-0 down at this stage, they fought on only to concede another two well worked goals and if Lytham are going to take anything from this game, it is the obvious team spirit within the side.

Some good performances were shown by Chris Hadley who has been drafted back into the first team and Craig Nuttall who's fitness and energy shined through until the end.

Lytham 2nd XI 1 Liverpool Sefton 2. Fielding a much changed side from last week Lytham started well with Davis Gadin Gettings and Kevin Jackson combining together down the left wing. Unfortunately a sloppy goal against the run of play set the team back until Rob Davis picked up the remnants of a penalty corner and fired in a strong shot at goal.

Again a further defensive lapse left them trailing 2-1 at half-time. The second half was extremely competitive with Lytham having many chances including a missed penalty stroke. However there were signs of improvement which must be built.

Lytham 3rd XI 0 Bolton 4th XI 4. Although the scoreline suggests that Lytham were well beaten this in fact was not the case, but many scoring chances including penalty corners were not accepted and Bolton took full advantage scoring on the break on too many occasions. With quite a number of young players still "learning their trade" so to speak, Lytham have to be patient. Michael Hall, Paul Burnett, Anton Wright and Chris Malings all worked hard.
