AFTER reading the article in The Citizen on cats I would just like to say, although kittens are adorable and amusing, please don't forget the "golden oldies".

Older cats soon settle into a new home and make wonderful companions. They are quieter and more sensible than kittens and young cats, need less supervision and are usually used to household life, house trained and know the ground rules of living with people.

They are content to spend much of their time just watching the world go by. They enjoy fuss and attention and are at their most companionable in their later years as they become more home orientated and settled.

Many cats live until well into their teens and twenties, so adopting an older cat does not mean you won't share many happy years together.
