BLACKBURN full-back John Curtis believes Rovers need to start playing more football on their travels if they want to improve on their wretched away record.

The England Under 21 international feels Rovers have fallen between two stools in recent weeks by sacrificing their neat approach play for more battling qualities.

But now the former Manchester United man insists it is time to start getting back to basics.

And he believes tomorrow's clash with Fulham could provide the perfect opportunity.

"I think we've gone from one extreme to the other and it's all about trying to develop a happy medium," said Curtis.

"The manager was on about us over-playing things during the first few away games of the season.

"Now, I think we are under-playing so it's about trying to gain the confidence and organisation to play in the right areas.

"Fulham have got strength throughout their side with the likes of Chris Coleman at the back, John Collins in midfield and Louis Saha upfront.

"Their confidence is clearly sky-high at the moment and opposition teams are going to sense that as soon as they get there.

"But we've got to go down their in a positive frame of mind.

"We tend to do better against the teams who play better football, though.

"If you look at our performances against the likes of Nottingham Forest and Crystal Palace, they were against teams who were prepared to play football.

"So, hopefully, we can do the same again tomorrow."
