THE quality of children's learning at an Accrington nursery school has been described as "outstanding" in its latest Ofsted report.
Inspectors looking as Heathland College in Sandy Lane noted that children were progressing well towards their early learning goals, were enthusiastic and enjoyed coming to school. Heathland College is an independent school which opened in 1994 and there are 45 nursery school children currently on the register.
The inspector reported that there had been good improvements since the school's last inspection although some steps, such as clearly labelling items around the learning environment to help develop the children's understanding, could be taken.
The report also noted communication, language and literacy skills in pupils were good and that the children were developing confidence in the use of information technology.
Teaching standards were described as "very good and sometimes excellent" and a good partnership with parents and carers is effective in helping children achieve early learning goals.
School principal Mrs Janet Hide was delighted with the report. She said it reflected the hard work and commitment of the staff.
