MAY I say how surprised I am that Dr Findlater found my letter abusive. Maybe he has just led a sheltered life. I am touched by his concern for my health but can assure him that I am perfectly calm and, unlike him, in touch with reality.

It would appear that he has dysfunctional short and long term memory. May I remind him that the chaos on the railways has come about because the Tories sold off the rail network to greedy private companies without any safeguards to prevent them from putting profit before safety.

With regard to the NHS, it was the Tories disastrous policy to try and run the NHS like a business which put in an obscene number of managers whilst at the same time reducing nursing numbers and closing wards. He seems to forget that it is his own opinion that no Government will ever successfully run the NHS as the problem with the NHS is the NHS.

As far as Europe is concerned the Tories took us in then forged greater links at Masstrict. It should have been blatantly obvious then where it was all going but not to the Tories who have since torn their party apart over the issue and are still arguing. The fact is, like it or not, that to pull out now would be economic suicide and the only way forward is to fight to secure a pivotal role in order to stand our ground within the EU.

To blame this Government for wrecking the Balkan economy is immature and naive, it was the war that was responsible for that, doctor!

If you ask me Dr Findlater you should follow your own advice, calm down, lie in a darkened room and prescribe yourself something for your paranoia (Olanzipine is good in my professional experience) In the interest of the doctor's blood pressure, the sanity of the readers and as we will never agree, I do not intend to enter into further correspondence - though I feel sure he will want the last word.

Now, if you will excuse me, I have an appointment on planet Earth!
