MOSAIC, the women in business forum of Bolton and Bury Chamber, has celebrated its third year of success at an annual dinner with a difference.

In a break from the two previous years, the event took the form of a theatre dinner.

The New Pack Horse in Bolton provided the dinner, while Silk Purse Productions provided the theatre with a superb performance of John Godber's Shakers, a parody on the life of four cocktail waitresses and miscellaneous clientele in a trendy 80s-style wine bar.

And leading the cast was MOSAIC Steering Group member, Christine Flanigan, founder member of Silk Purse, the Bolton based all girls amateur theatre group that has helped raise more than £3000 for local charities. Christine, Carol Butler, Jacky Gill and Joyce Smith kept the audience enthralled throughout the evening, with splendid support from the technical team of Dave Eyre, Steve Butler and John Martin, and Chris Martin on the book. MOSAIC chairman, Jan Barnes of Boardman's, Hawkshaw, was overwhelmed by support for the event, which was sold out almost as soon as tickets went on sale. She expressed her heartfelt thanks to Lesley Bashford of Barclays Bank for sponsoring the Silk Purse production, to Ann Rimmer of Clock Creative for designing the tickets and menu cards and to Tara Zomorrody of Copies for printing them.

Jan said: "When we started out just three years ago, we hardly dared believe that we'd be experiencing such success three years on.

"But MOSAIC just seems to grow and grow. It's to the credit of all those members who find the time to support us even though they are often overstretched already, juggling home lives with building businesses.

I would like to thank everyone who has contributed to the success of MOSAIC, and particularly Kay Gregson at the Chamber and our stalwart Steering Group who pull it all together."

MOSAIC was established in September 1997 to form a platform for women in business to support each other from the exchange of information and ideas and, most importantly diverse range of business and social events.

Among future events are an afternoon at the Esporta Tranquillity Spa and a tour of the facilities at the new Europa House business centre in Bury.

New members are always welcome and should ring Kay Gregson at Bolton and Bury Chamber on 0845 601 6010 for further details.
