THERE was duck on the menu this week for pensioners in Carleton as local celebrity Orville and his owner Keith Harris helped deliver meals on wheels.
The ventriloquist and his green feathered friend helped support National Meals on Wheels Week, organised by the Advisory Body for Social Services Caterers to draw attention to the important service it provides for old and vulnerable people.
Keith said: "Having elderly parents myself I am delighted to be able to support National Meals on Wheels Week as I believe it provides a vital service on which many old people depend. Not only does it bring a supply of nourishing food but it also brings valuable human contact to people who often lead a lonely life."
