Estonia broke

Clarets chairman Barry Kilby saw a potentially fruitful partnership founder in mid-week when boss Stan Ternent decided not to follow up his interest in Estonian international Martin Reims.

Reims spent a few days training at Burnley and then played for the reserves in their mid-week win over Rotherham.

However, Ternent decided the 29-year-old was no better than his current crop of midfielders and didn't take the matter further.

And that ended any prospect of a link up between Reims and Kilby's company Europrint, which runs a lottery game in Estonia.

IAN Wright can't get enough of the place.

The natural-born goalscorer has been joining in training at Turf Moor recently during visits to see his old mate Mitchell Thomas.

And the former England striker, who helped the Clarets to promotion last season, watched his old team beat Norwich City 2-0 on Tuesday night.

Good neighbours

THERE was fun and games among the officials at Turf Moor on Tuesday night. Referee Mike Pike felt under the weather during the first half and so was replaced during a slightly longer than normal half-time break.

However, rather than just promote the fourth official a tannoy annoucement went round the ground for local League referees Eddie Wolstenholme, from Blackburn, and Tony Leake, from Darwen, to make themselves available.

Branch plans

NO running a pub or becoming an agent for Graham Branch when he hangs up his boots.

The versatile Claret, who was expected to start this afternoon's game at Watford as a left-back, plans to work with animals.

He said in Burnley's mid-week match programme: "I wanted to be a vet when I was younger but hopefully I could work with the RSPCA or something." The caring face of football.

ROTHERHAM boss Ronnie Moore was at Turf Moor on Tuesday night to see his son Ian kick off his Clarets career.
