DRUG dealers and burglars have been warned "You could be next" by detectives after the latest police raids in the Pennine area.

Yesterday officers seized heroin and crack cocaine and six people arrested in as the second phase of Operation Reassure swung into action.

Crooks across Burnley, Pendle and Rossendale have been warned they could be next to be targeted during the course of the crime crackdown which runs until next Sunday.

Up to 200 extra officers from headquarters are being deployed across the county to help local police with high visibility patrols.

Police in the Pennine Division yesterday executed six warrants and arrested nine people. Two houses in Nelson were raided and as well as four in Burnley including three in Branch Road.

Insp Dave Croll said a sizeable seizure of what was believed to be heroin and cocaine had been made.

Items of suspected stolen property, mainly electrical goods, were also recovered.

When phase one of Operation Reassure was launched in December almost 1,000 arrests were made county wide and quantities of drugs and stolen property recovered.

Det Chief Supt Adrian Adrian McAllister said: "Operation Reassure aims to do just that, reassure the public of Lancashire that the Constabulary is committed to reducing crime and the fear of crime.

"We will aim to do this through problem-orienting policing that is intelligence-led with the main focus on those offenders suspected of committing crimes that cause the most public concern including house burglaries, car crime and violence."

Police are calling for continued support from the public. Anyone with information should contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
