FORMER Ewood favourite Colin Hendry today insisted the battle for second place is far from over as Bolton faced a win or bust clash with Norwich at the Reebok.

Wobbling Wanderers went into today's matches trailing second-placed Rovers by three points with only four games to go.

But, though the Scotland skipper admitted Wednesday night's 2-1 defeat at Crewe was a devastating blow, he is adamant fans can expect a few further twists and turns before the battle for second place is ultimately decided.

"We'll keep hanging in there," said a defiant Hendry. "Anything I've been involved in like this before has always gone the long way round -- it's never simple when I'm involved.

"As much as Wednesday's result handed the advantage to Blackburn, it's one thing being in that second position but it's another thing staying there.

"It's a bit like getting into the Premiership. The hardest part isn't getting there in the first place, it's then staying in it.

"If you look at Manchester United, domestically, that's why they're so successful because they reach those levels and consistently stay at those levels.

"Everyone else is left trying to strive to get as close to them as they can.

"So anything could happen yet because it's a nervy situation."
