EVER fancied following in the footsteps of rising Rovers stars like David Dunn and Matt Jansen?

Then there's still a chance for fans to take part in an unforgettable charity match on Ewood at the end of the season.

Football Aid -- a charity set-up to raise funds for diabetes research -- are offering Rovers fans the chance to don the famous blue and white halves and step out on the famous hallowed turf in a special end-of-season challenge match.

A total of 30 places were initially up for grabs to fans registering the highest bids on the website www.footballaid.com.

And, with the closing date now looming, fans have got just a few more days to claim one of the nine remaining spots.

Bidding starts at just £100 and those taking part in the special match at Ewood on Thursday, May 3 (kick off 3pm) will get the chance to play alongside Rovers legends like Glen Keeley, Vince O'Keefe, Ian Miller and Alan Ainscow. More details are available on the website www.footballaid.com. If you want to register a bid then please contact info@footballaid.com or telephone 0131 555 6042.

I HAD to laugh this week when my sports desk colleague Pete Oliver came back with a gem of a tale from his Bank Holiday Monday trip to Carrow Road.

Having been likened to a certain family in ITV soap Emmerdale by gloating Rovers fans this season, it seems there's no escape for Burnley fans struggling to shake off the tag.

You'd think they'd be safe in Norwich, only to find that the associate match sponsor for Monday's game was none other than Dingles Motor Group Ltd!

Now either that's a freaky co-incidence or maybe a local firm is trying to branch out?

ROVERS' reserve team striker Gary Hamilton could be on his way to Wigan in the summer following a recent trial spell at the JJB Stadium.

Hamilton has played in a couple of reserve team games for the Latics as he looks to get himself fixed up with a new club.

The Northern Ireland Under 21 international is one of several Ewood Academy graduates who have been told their contracts won't be renewed at the end of the season.

THE answer to last week's teaser 'which two clubs did Martin Taylor go on loan to last season' was Stockport and Darlington.

This week's question is: Stephane Henchoz played a starring role in Liverpool's UEFA triumph against Barcelona on Thursday night.

But from which club did he join Rovers in the summer of 1997 for a fee of £2.8 million?
