PORTICO took another step towards claiming the North West Counties League Premier Division title at the first time of asking with this impressive win.
Craig Peel gave Portico the lead with a powerful try in the opening minutes, converted by Mike Hobin. But the Widnes side hit back with an unconverted try and a penalty goal.
Panthers though moved into a 14-6 interval lead with a try by Mark Rigby and two more goals by Hobin.
Portico took a stanglehold on the game after the break and although Farnworth had their fair share of possession and territorial advantage they couldn't break down the visitors' rock-solid defence.
And Panthers added further tries through man-of-match Keith Tunstall (2) and Rigby, with Hobin convertng all three and adding a penalty to complete the scoring.
