READER Alan Hunter is puzzled by an old bottle he recently unearthed. What makes it different is that it has pit-head gear embossed on it, together with the company name of Ryders of St Helens.
Now, Alan is curious to know more about why the clear-glass, nine-inch high bottle carried a colliery motif, where that St Helens firm was located and what they manufactured (bottles or their contents?)
IF you've a clue or two, please write to Whalley's World at the Star.
