HAYDOCK CC travelled to Croston for the first game of the season in the Southport & District League and made a steady start.
Batting first, Haydock scored 205-5 with new signing C. Sackfield scoring 50 and S. Pickavance blasting a quickfire 62.
When Croston replied, Haydock's inability to hold catches proved costly as they reached 205-9 at the close. Sackfield (4-59) was the pick of the bowlers.
The 2nds entertained Croston 2nds at Lyme Park with the visitors batting and scoring 145-6. A. Bentham (2-44), A. Hill (2-26) and young P. Kenyon (1-29) were the pick of a good all-round bowling and fielding performance.
In reply, Haydock scored 146-5 with A. Lever (55) and B. Cross (29 n.o.) the pick.
The thirds bowled out Tarleton CC for 16 with the ever-youthful A. Bushell (6-12) and A. Hughes (3-4) the pick of the bowlers. D. Rimmer (12 n.o.) and L. Parkinson (5 n.o.) quickly completed the 10-wicket win.
