A REWARD is being offered after vandals on a wrecking spree slashed the tyres of vehicles.
At least 16 people contacted the police after finding tyres on their vehicles around the Park Road area of Waterfoot had been slashed overnight -- early reports said there could be as many as 100 vehicles damaged.
Crimestoppers have put up a reward of up to £500 for information leading to the arrest of the vandals responsible.
Sergeant Graeme Fearn said: "This mindless vandalism and disregard for other people's property cannot be tolerated. However, if we are to find the people responsible then we need the public's help.
"I would urge anyone with any information to call the police on 01282 425001 or alternatively call Crimestoppers free and in confidence on 0800 555 111."
Crimestoppers posters will be put up in the area and patrols will be stepped up.
Sgt Fearn said: "With support from the local community, we have made great inroads into reducing crime. I would urge people not to let these vandals spoil that work."
"If people have any idea who it might be or any information -- however insignificant they think it may be -- then I would ask them to please contact us."
