SHOPKEEPERS and tenants in the Cambridge Road and Boundary Road area have launched a 'Shop Watch' scheme to help fight crime and disorder.
Shops participating in the Newtown Shop Watch will display a poster and will be able to contact each other, and the police, if they become suspicious of a person or incident.
It is based on the same principles as Home Watch, the scheme where residents are fully aware how to improve security by using the correct bolts and locks and by property marking the necessary equipment.
It also improves the chances of criminals being caught, as there are more eyes on the street watching for anything untoward.
Newtown Shop Watch is supported by Merseyside Police from the Neighbourhood Office at Eccleston.
