ROSSENDALE and Darwen's MP has said that the government will do everything possible to restore confidence in the £12 billion countryside tourism industry.
Ms Janet Anderson made the declaration to tourism managers in Calder Valley, West Yorkshire, following the problems caused by the foot and mouth disease.
The tourism minister said: "Visitors can still have a great day out in the British countryside. There is no need to stay at home.
"The government understands the sector's concerns during the present outbreak.
"We need to get the message across that foot and mouth disease has not closed down the countryside."
