THE TV advert may say London needs biscuits, but haberdashery stall owner Joan Whiteley knows better -- London needs buttons!
Joan, who runs the stall on Rawtenstall Market, has received an e-mail from Bill Dowton in London. He wrote: "I've got a very heavy leather coat on which the buttons keep breaking!
"I've been looking for some steel buttons which won't. Any ideas?"
Joan was happy to reply that she had 2,000 buttons in stock and now she has the dimensions she has sent him some samples to see which buttons he wants.
