LEIGH Miners Rangers Under 11s and Under 14s have returned from their short tour to the South of France with their reputation enhanced.

In their first game the Under 11s took the lead with a Robert Whalley try before their hosts hit back with three length of the field tries. But in the second half the Miners showed great character to come back with tries from Danny Jones and Lee Mahdavi and conversions by Whalley and Harold.

The Under 14s started their game like a house on fire with early tries from Charlie Rimmer (2) and Michael Wilkinson with Rimmer (2) and Dickinson adding conversions. In the second half the Miners withstood a tremendous barrage and did magnificently to only concede one try in an 18-10 win.

In the second round of the games the Under 11s again showed great commitment in an 18-12 defeat, converted tries from Whalley and Harold.

The Under 14s were up against and older and bigger side but did well to restrict their hosts to a 12-8 half time lead with Andrew Bracek scoring twice. The pressure finally told and the Miners went down 22-12, the final try coming from Shaun Birkett.
