LEIGH RU's Under 7s won the Wilmslow mini competition by beating Widnes 10-7 in the final.

Leigh opened by beating Ormskirk 30-25 with tries from Marcus Williams, Thomas Lloyd, James Hatton 2 and James Wilkinson 2. They followed with a 27-10 success over Lymm with touchdowns from Hatton (2) and Williams (2).

Tries from Sam Peet, Williams, Lloyd and Wilkinson brought a 20-15 win over Trafford and breakaway tries from Hatton and Oliver Farley brought success over Widnes in the final.

The Under 8s had a tough time in their competition, losing two of their three games.

They went down 20-5 to the hosts with Peter Readwin scoring the only try and lost 10-5 to Lymm with Readwin again the scorer. But tries from James Hatton, Adam Tustin and Oliver Farley brought a 15-5 win over Ormskirk.

The Under 11s had two wins and two defeats in their matches. They beat Trafford 26-14 and Percy Park 14-7 but lost to Wilmslow 12-7 and Ormskirk 7-5.

Three fine performances took the Under 12s to their final where they lost 14-7. Woods scored Leigh's try.

They beat Oldham 25-15, drew 10-10 with Percy Park and beat Trafford 30-10. Tries on the day were scored by Pendlebury (3), Taylor (3), Woods (3), Andrews (2), Bond (2) and Baker.

Leigh's Under 15s saved their best performance until the end of the season as they defeated unbeaten Lancashire champions Widnes 12-7.

Leigh dominated the first half and took the lead with a Sean Battersby try, converted off the touchline by Michael Taylor.

They had to defend doggedly in the second half with Crompton, Morgan, Hurst and Grundy working tirelessly. Ashbrook, Lewis and Ashurst shone in midfield as Leigh wrapped it up when Taylor raced clear to score.
