FIREFIGHTERS launched a dramatic river rescue on Monday (April 23) to save a stranded sheep.
Mary the sheep had plunged approximately 30ft on to a ledge near Springside Farm in Walmersley at lunchtime.
Although she suffered no physical injury, Mary was unable to move from the River Irwell banking.
The fire brigade brought in their water rescue unit to scoop the frightened animal to safety.
