BURY'S new £12.3 million Village Hotel and Leisure Club, currently under construction, is well on schedule for its completion.

And 200 jobs will be created when the complex, being built at the Waterfold Business Park, opens later this year.

The modern, 98-bedroom hotel is due to open its doors at Heap Bridge in the autumn.

Village Hotel Bury also encompasses a vast range of facilities under one roof including leisure club, meeting rooms, restaurant and pub.

Bosses feel the hotel makes an ideal base because of its nearby excellent transport links. The site is just 500 yards from junction 2 of the M66 and close to the towns of Bury, Bolton and Rochdale and their tourist attractions.

Manager of the new hotel, Steve Lee said: "The Village brand has been a huge success and the Bury hotel will be the thirteenth to open.

"I'm really looking forward to the challenge. Our on-site sales office is now up and running for those interested in further information on the hotel or to sign up for membership of the leisure club."

He added: "Feedback from the local area has been very positive. Bury has not had such a facility and it is long overdue."

The hotel's leisure club will feature a 25 metre pool, sauna and steam room plus a 5,000 sq ft fitness studio.

Also included is Healthworks, a health and therapy studio, which will be open to residents and non-residents.

On the food side, there will be the village pub plus a bar and restaurant.
