A YOUNG Preston girl is making all the right notes to reach chart-topping success and is hoping to clinch a record deal with music makers from the USA.

Schoolgirl Sam Leigh-Braime is already wowing audiences with her blend of 60s songs and present day hits -- and she's only 14!

The Broughton High School youngster started singing for audiences one year ago. Since then Sam, who will be working with a record producer from Nashville, Tennessee, in July, has worked with big names such as Carol Vorderman and Bob Monkhouse!

And with a grandad who performs Irish dances aged 73 and a mum who used to dance, Sam says performing is in her blood.

Now, mum Laura has rented out the family home to help pay for the youngster's costumes costing £70-plus each with ballroom dresses worth nearly £1,000.

Other money is required for equipment, make-up, accessories, singing tuition and travel to and from London venues where she regularly auditions for singing work.

And they are appealing to local businesses to dig deep and sponsor their fight to make the young wannabe a hit.

Currently the family are living with Sam's grandmother, Lila-Jane O'Hagan, in Farringdon Place, Fulwood, Preston.

But, while she is waiting to see her name in lights the dedicated teenager is concentrating on gigs in Blackpool hotels and local rest homes.

And, in a bid to break into the music world, Sam takes part in talent contests up and down the country. "I've just got through one at the Central bowling club, Blackpool and I'm in the semi-finals in June. But I'm up against artist who are semi-professionals, so it's quite hard," she said.
