BAE Systems and the Ribble Valley initiative are calling on young people to take up their crayons and paints to create a work of art that shows the River Ribble.

Pictures, with an environmental theme, can be of any scene along the Ribble (in the present day or in history) and should make people realise how important the river is.

The pictures will be entered into a competition, sponsored by BAE Systems and for which Granthams of Preston have donated some of the prizes.

First and second prizes will be awarded for each age group eligible (school years 5-6, years 7-9 and years 10-11) with water colour sets worth £50.00 as the first prizes.

The best entries from each age group will also be published by the Ribble Valley Initiative, a partnership that cares about the River Ribble and the area around it.

Send your entries (no bigger than A4 size please) by June 30 to the Ribble Valley initiative, c/o United Utilities, Blackburn WWTW, Cuerdale Lane, Samlesbury, Preston, PR5 0UY, remembering to add your name, school year and school address to the back of your work.
