CARERS Link Hyndburn and Ribble Valley is now up and running as a newly independent charity and intends to continue its vital link between the people who care for others and professional bodies.

Some 765 carers and professionals already access the resources offered by the group which is based at Swan Mews, in Clitheroe.

Last week saw the inauguration of the charity with a cake cutting ceremony held at the town's Mayors Parlour and gave local carers valuable time out from their hectic schedules.

"Information for carers is provided through a free quarterly carers newsletter, A Carers Guide to Services, and an information pack. Local carers can also join in the very popular 'time-out' events, access training such as 'Computers for the Terrified', basic first aid, craft taster sessions and receive one to one support," explained carers development officer Kathleen Eastwood.

A recent service which has been set up is specifically aimed at young carers whose lives are often restricted by caring for someone at home.0
