ST ANNES C.C. drew their opening Northern Premier League game with Blackpool at Highbury Road.

The home side scored 191 for 9, which included 49 by opener Adrian Darlington. Professional Dave Callaghan was the next highest scorer with 44, and between them the pair shared a second-wicket stand of 70.

Sharp was Blackpool's most successful bowler with three for 35 off 16 overs.

In reply the visitors finished on 162 for 7, which included 41 from opener Richard Lamb who shared a stand of 95 with top scorer Paul Danson who hit 58.

Lytham were comprehensively beaten at Leigh in the Liverpool Competition Premier Division Knockout. The home side piled up a demoralising 260 for 6 which included 126 from opener Andy Batterley.

Then Lytham were bowled out for 103.
