BLACKPOOL SCORPIONS U13s 48 LEIGH EAST LIONS 8
BLACKPOOL Under 13s rounded off their first season in fine style with a convincing victory against a team who recently defeated them 8-4. Some of the boys had been training with Wigan and it obviously paid off as they put in an excellent team performance.
Scorpions scored first when blockbusting forward Simon Ogden went over for a try. Shortly after Leigh equalised. Tom Simpkin then replied with a try which was converted by Carl Eastwood.
Lions hit back with a breakaway try when the left winger fly kicked ahead and dived on the ball over the line. But just before the break Simon Ogden scored his second try and Carl Eastwood converted to make it 16-8 at half-time.
The Scorpions defence was superb in the second half with the Lions unable to break through, while the Scorpions ran in six unanswered tries in the half from Johnny Fee, Phil Mitchell, Phil Leach, Tom Simpkin, Scott Marsden and man of the match Simon Ogden completed his hat-trick.
