BURY Business Club re-launches its inaugural meeting of 2001 next Tuesday (May 1).

The club, a Bury-focused networking and information group for local businesses under the umbrella of Bolton and Bury Chamber, had been due to meet on Thursday (April 26).

But it was switched to avoid a clash with the launch of the Business Security Initiative being held elsewhere in the town.

Next Tuesday's meeting, which begins at 6pm, will be held at Businesslodge, Europa House in Barcroft Street. This will include a presentation by tax consultant David Teale of DTE who will give an overview of the Chancellor's Budget in layman's terms.

As a university lecturer on tax, and with an Inland Revenue background, David is ideally qualified to explain how the Budget measures may affect local companies and suggest actions that small and medium-sized businesses ought to take in response.

A full schedule of varied and interesting venues is already lined up for the remainder of the 2001 programme with the focus on the three key benefits of networking, information and interest.

Club chairman, Mr Stephen Singer said: "The emphasis of the Business Club remains very firmly on meetings being useful, informative and fun.

"It is one of the best ways to keep up with who's who, what's going on in the business community and to enjoy an informal evening with other local business people."

Meetings usually run for around two hours and include a topical guest speaker, opportunities for members to promote their own business and networking time. Refreshments are provided.
