A MAN found hanging in his home was discovered after his girlfriend became worried when he did not turn up for a pre-arranged meeting.

The body of 34-year-old Carry Tyson, an unemployed sales representative, of Wigan Road, Hindley, was discovered by his friend and landlord, Kevin Fitzpatrick. He had been asked to check on Mr Tyson by his worried girlfriend who hadn't seen him for almost a week and got no reply when she tried to phone him.

At an inquest at Leigh Town Hall coroner Mr Aidan Cotter reached the verdict that Mr Tyson took his own life.

Graham Tyson said his brother had been twice married and was separated from his second wife. He had one child.

Angela Bates said she had known him for four and a half years. She last saw him on September 21 last year, although on that evening they had arranged to meet the following Tuesday. His body was discovered on September 27. She said he had planned to take a HGV driving course and had some financial and divorce problems. But she said he had never mentioned taking his own life.

Mr Tyson's landlord Mr Fitzpatrick said he had been asked to call and check on him because Ms Bates was worried because she had been unable to contact him. He went to Mr Tyson's home where he peered through a window, saw him hanging and called police.

PC Frank Cunliffe said: "I went in to the backyard and through the kitchen window I saw Mr Tyson hanging from the bannister. I forced the back door."

PC Cunliffe found keys to the front and back doors were on a worktop alongside three notes left for his family and girlfriend.

Pathologist Dr David Barker said he was unable to ascertain the exact time of death but said death was caused from suspension with a ligature.
