I RECENTLY bought a Daewoo car and among the extras offered was a free advanced driver course.
I am 70 and have been driving practically every day for more than 50 years, to my mind safely. But, encouraged by my family, I applied to the Bury Group who meet each Sunday at 10am at the Mosses.
I was made welcome and an observer was found who, over the next ten weeks, very skilfully prepared me to pass the test. I was surprised to learn just how few had taken up the offer of such a course. Perhaps the word "advanced" had put off drivers.
I can only say that safety is the paramount theme and my eyes were opened to the dangerous behaviour on our roads. I urge drivers, young and old, to give it a go. You will get a good reception.
