ALTHOUGH I have a couple of degrees, I am not the editor of the Manchester Geologist (Letters, April 25) but the Manchester Genealogist!
I hesitate to bandy membership numbers around, but at the Manchester and Lancashire Family History Society we have approximately 4,500 paid-up members, with about 750 joining last year.
Prospective members may like to know that we have a library in our headquarters at Clayton House, 59 Piccadilly, Manchester M1 2AQ.
In addition to the branches mentioned by WJ Taylor, of the Lancashire Family History and Heraldry Society, we also have a computer branch, Irish Ancestry and Anglo-Scottish branches and an exclusive membership in North America and the Antipodes.
