A 76-year-old man feared for his safety as his son turned into a "madman" and threatened to kill him, a court heard.

Burnley magistrates were told how Nazar Iqbal, 35, was aggressive, punched a door and was shouting and screaming.

His parents were concerned about his behaviour and the rages he got into when they believed he had taken drugs.

Iqbal, of Abel Street, Burnley, admitted criminal and damage and failing to surrender and was ordered to pay £195 in fines, costs and compensation.

Elizabeth Reed, prosecuting, said the defendant damaged a bedroom door at his parents' home and threatened to kill his father. Police were alerted as Iqbal left the property.

The defendant denied threatening or using violence towards his parents and told officers that while he used to take heoin, he had now stopped and denied taking drugs in his parents' home.

Nick Dearing, defending, said Iqbal admitted there was a row and damage was caused, but denied using drugs or using violence towards his parents. He was now reconciled with them.
