A DRINK-DRIVER lost more than his licence after he was arrested and taken to the police station, a court heard.

Kenneth Milne Taylor, 38, had been told by police to leave his vehicle where it was -- on double yellow lines -- when he was stopped and returned later to find a fixed penalty ticket.

To make matters worse, officers said he could not have his car keys back for two days and when he went back to collect his vehicle it had been towed away.

He was then presented with a £105 bill to get it back, Burnley Magistrates heard.

Taylor, of Holcombe Drive, Burnley, admitted driving with excess alcohol and no insurance and was banned for two years, conditionally discharged for 12 months and must pay £69 costs.

The court heard Taylor's breath tests showed 78 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 mililitres of breath, more than double the legal limit of 35.

Trevor Grice, defending, said Taylor was intending to drive no more than 500 yards and had gone 200 yards when stopped.

He had been to his brother's pub, slept for a few hours and then foolishly decided to get behind the wheel.
