THE biggest change in local government since 1974 will get under way next Wednesday when a decision is made on the best way to modernise Pendle Council.
More than 2,000 people -- a six per cent response -- gave their views on the decision-making process in response to the Changing For You leaflet which was sent to all Pendle households. Fifty-six per cent were in favour of making major changes to how the council is run while 31.5 per cent were in favour of a cabinet with a leader.
Pendle Partnership voted in favour of the cabinet/leader model.
Councillors will be presented with two options to choose from on Wednesday -- the cabinet model or alternative arrangements which include a revised committee structure.
