THORNTON U17s 3 YMCA 4: UNDERDOGS YMCA produced a superb display in this Hogan Cup semi-final. They fell a goal behind in just the third minute, but responded well and the Thornton 'keeper was forced into two excellent saves. On the half-hour YMCA's Marlon Bradley was hauled over in the area but he shot narrowly wide from the resultant spot kick. However minutes later he set up the chance for Eddie Taylor to grab a simple equaliser and it was 1-1 at the break. After the restart YMCA took the lead when Taylor was brought down in the box by the Thornton 'keeper which resulted him being dismissed and Taylor converted the penalty. Five minutes later Thornton made it 2-2 but the lively Bradley quickly restored YMCA's lead. YMCA then went 4-2 ahead from their third penalty award after Bradley had been impeded in the area. Taylor slotted home the spot kick to complete his hat trick and Thornton were then reduced to nine men when a second player was dismissed. They pulled a goal back with a superbly taken free-kick but YMCA comfortably held out for an impressive victory with a hard working and determined performance.
