SOCCER-MAD MP Peter Pike is calling on Burnley fans to turn out in force to Turf Moor on Sunday to say a big thank-you to the Clarets for a successful season.
He wants a great gate when Burnley face Watford in the final match of the season.
Mr Pike said: "Let us say well done Clarets --- and all the best for next season."
In a letter to the Lancashire Evening Telegraph, long-standing Burnley fan Mr Pike congratulates manager Stan Ternent, the Burnley board and the team for their achievements over the season.
He said: "Like many last Saturday, I returned from Sheffield a little disappointed that we hadn't made the play-offs but we have kept the season alive to the end.
"Who last August would have predicted that we would have reached our highest league position for over 20 years.
"We all can be critics and I know we all have our views on tactics, substitutions, etc, but we have secured our first division place and let us wish Barry Kilby and all at Turf Moor well in building on that base."
