ENTERPRISE plc, the Lancashire-based support services company, is continuing its expansion with the acquisition of Dewsbury Civil Engineering in a £5m deal.
DCE is a long-established supplier of infrastructure services to Lattice and Powergen in the North West, North East, East Midlands and East Anglia.
Earlier this year, it entered into a Company Voluntary Arrangement, following a rapid rise in turnover which led to a cash shortage.
Owen McLaughlin, executive chairman of Enterprise, is confident the business can be put back on track. "Demand for DCE's services has grown rapidly over recent years," he said.
"Its problems have arisen from difficulties associated with such rapid growth. We are confident that our strong business systems and management will have a significant and positive impact on this business."
Enterprise is issuing shares with a current market value of £2 million as a first instalment. Up to a further £3 million will be paid in March 2003.
