THREE extra travellers' caravans which joined Bacup's 'impromptu' site only stayed for a day.
The travellers set up on Horace's car park on Monday but were gone by Tuesday.
Three other caravans have been pitched on the car park next to Horace's Nightclub, off Market Street, for several weeks, but Rossendale Council has been told by MAFF that they cannot be moved because of the fear of possibly spreading foot and mouth.
Local ward Coun Peter Steen said: "We are going to get on to MAFF to ask them to reconsider, but it would still take 14 days for any injunction to be enforced.
"We would also have to employ bailiffs on the 24 hour period up to the date of the injunction at a cost of £35 an hour.
"The council's legal section is seeking to get an injunction, but we want to make sure it is watertight and applies to all of the council's land so the travellers cannot leave that site and set up a few yards down the road."
