CREWE are the latest Football League club to cast their eyes over the talent at Radcliffe Borough.

Representatives from the Football League Division One club were at Tuesday night's UniBond Division One game against Witton Albion, having another look at classy defender Simon Kelly.

The Gresty Road outfit have been showing an interest in Kelly for some time and there is also news that another League side are poised to move in for leading goalscorer Neill Hardy.

The 26-year-old hitman completed a trial period at Bury with a place on the first team substitutes bench at Gigg Lane last Saturday when Bury drew with Wycombe Wanderers in their final Division Two home game of the season.

Hardy had impressed in the reserves, scoring one goal and laying on the other in the 2-1 win over Doncaster that clinched the Avon Insurance Division Two title for the Shakers' second string.

He had played in a couple of other reserve games against Stoke and Chesterfield and Boro boss Kevin Glendon is waiting to see if the Shakers pursue their interest in the former Altrincham, Northwich and Morecambe striker.

IT'S the Player of the Year awards night at Radcliffe Borough tomorrow night (Sat) and supporters arriving before 8.30pm will be admitted free.

The event, being held in the social club at Stainton Park, follows on from Boro's final game of the season, a home fixture against champions Bradford Park Avenue (kick-off 3pm).

As well as the awards, the evening will feature a cabaret and disco. The club's doors will be open from 7.30pm and supporters are urged to arrive as early as possible. A charge of £3 per person will be made after 8.30pm.

There are just three more places left for teams wanting to enter Boro's six-a-side soccer league on Wednesday nights at Stainton Park.

The games are played on the all-weather pitches at the complex and further details can be obtained by ringing 0161-724 8346.
