LEIGH East Tigers Under 11s ended Woolston Rovers unbeaten league record with a 28-24 success.

A slow start by the Tigers saw Rovers score first before Lyndon Robertson brought it back to 6-4. Rovers scored twice more as East were punished.

Man of the match Daniel Weaving powered over for an Iain Jolley converted try to reduce the deficit to 16-10. Rovers increased their lead from a high kick but with 10 minutes left, Tigers turned the game round.

Strong running from Ryan Wignall and Michael Lathom combined with sound defence from Weaving, Karl Morris and Daniel Hunter, wore Rovers down and tries followed from Adam Maguire and Ben Taylor, both converted by Morris and Mark Williams. When a strong tackle from Weaving won the ball back, the Tigers launched a last minute attack which brought the winning try for Andrew Keating. Hunter added the goal points.

Despite outscoring Eccles four tries to three, the Tigers were held 18-18. The tries came from Weaving, Maguire, Keating and Robertson with man of the match Jolley adding one conversion.
