GIRLS at Bury Grammar School were raising their hopes and school funds when more than 1,000 multi-coloured balloons were released!
The pupils were taking part in a balloon race. They paid £1 each to enter and the cash raised will inflate the school's Nepal World Challenge Expedition fund by more than £1,000, to send 17 pupils on the trip of a lifetime.
The winner whose balloon travels furthest will receive a mystery prize.
And pictured, ready for the big release, is pupil five-year-old Chloe Tao.
Teacher Claire Trethewey said: "It was very exciting. We brought the balloons out into the playground in a big net and everyone was pushing them up in the air.
"We have asked anyone finding one of the tickets to send it back to the school or contact us telling us where it was found."
Balloons have already been found as far afield as Huddersfield and Selby in Yorkshire.
